Got in a work out...

Hard to believe, but true. I figured with Joey at swim team I might as well work out for a bit. It seems that if I stay and watch him, he doesn't focus as well. He starts pulling on the Mommy strings and that is not so good. And the coach told me to... leave. Well, not in so many words... she said is nicely... Maybe Joey will do better without you here. Yikes~! I've given that advice. So the solution... Mommy went and worked out. I didn't wow anyone with my workout, but myself. I headed to the track with my ipod. Oh, how I love my ipod. Just me and my ipod. It's time to make a new play list to listen to while I exercise. I was reading women's health last night and they had some great suggestions for songs that really get your blood pumping.

Never again..

We had Joey's 8th bday party Friday night, here, at the house. With loud, physically active boys I prefer to take them somewhere to play. Joey, however, was adamant that he have his friends over to our house. I decided that it would be a good idea... then I get to meet everyone and their parents before summer begins, etc.

It was an exhausting party. After we got through the psychotic behavior (they got a lecture, okay I yelled at them... but they were jumping on and over my furniture screaming like wild things), it was still loud, but that was okay. I finally flopped on the couch after 10pm. Thank goodness for my sister who stayed to help. As she left I told her, "I owe you". She looked at me and said, "Yes, you do. Don't ever do this again without consulting me." I think that is one of the few times she's reprimanded me... kind of makes me laugh.

Non-fat, Vanilla Latte...

What Your Latte Says About You

You don't treat yourself very often. You find that indulging doesn't jibe with your very disciplined life.

You can be quite silly at times, but you know when to buckle down and be serious.

You have a good deal of energy, but you pace yourself. You never burn out too fast.

You're addicted to caffeine. There's no denying it.

You are responsible, mature, and truly an adult. You're occasionally playful, but you find it hard to be carefree.

You are expressive and friendly, but you are never pushy.

What Does Your Latte Say About You?

Sadly, Emmi could order this for me. And REALLY, I only allow myself to have one once a week. And many weeks, I don't get one. It really is my treat:)

Is this place German?

After Joey's day at school and swim team he chose to go to dinner at Gustavs. However, he has always referred to it as "Goose Dogs." At dinner he was trying to pronounce it correctly, but it was still off, Gustovs. Finally, Joe got him to say it right. As we were deciding what to eat, we asked the kids if they wanted Oma noodles and gravy... a resounding YES by all. So, we substituted this for that and we waited. Joey looks up, looks around and says... Is this place German? I can not tell you that it was the greatest chuckle ever!

Newport...

We had a great weekend in Newport. It was fast, but relaxing none-the-less. We took both dogs down to the beach several times. It was Jeeps' first experience and he loved it. Molly, the old girl, loved it as well. I don't think she loved all the steps she had to climb back up... but she made it.

We hot tubbed... which is always a big hit with the kids. The new adventure was the hot tub in the hail. Yes, it started to hail on us... cool at first, until you pellted... ouch!

We had friends over Saturday evening... 6 adults, 7 kids and 2 dogs. Crazy and fun. The guys took all of the kids and dogs down to the beach while we girls sat and did nothing. Oh, it was glorious.

We headed home Sunday afternoon... unloaded the car, started laundry and enjoyed a peaceful Sunday evening.

The best part of the trip for Joe and I had to be the Tempurpedic mattress. Does that makes us old. It was heaven to sleep on. Neither one of us had any back issues or sleep issues... this morning it is back to creeks and ouch... I'll be research the mattress soon.

I will add pictures tonight... in a hurry to get everyone out the door.

Thanks...

to Rita for taking the time to sit and teach me how to knit dish rags. I am so excited that I know how to do it. I'm no expert, but I am so excited. I'm going to continue to work on them tonight. Now what do I do in my spare time... read or knit. If I have lots of spare time I like to scrap or sew, but when I have a little time I read or now, knit!

First Baseball Game

(Here are a few pics before the game at home. I will take action shots on Saturday as it should be a beautiful day.)

Time for the first game... boys are excited, ready to go... and it starts raining! We head to the fields anyway and they decide to play.

Joey was the first up to bat... swing, smack... Joey pauses then, proceeds to run and can you believe that the little first baseman caught the ball and got him out. Too bad, but a nice hit. Finally, Stefan is up to bat... lots of swings (he's still not very comfortable with the bat), they put out the "t" and he smacks it down the middle and makes it to first... he eventually made it all around the bases.

Time to field... Joey is in center field (again... usually no action there) and Stefan is put at short stop... he proudly runs to the pitcher mound. I am chuckling inside because I know that Stefan doesn't have any idea where short stop is. Finally, the coaches get him into place... he also didn't see any action. The sky then opened up and they called the game... Thank you!

The boys had a great time. They were very nice to each other in the car... Thank you!

Feeling sorry for myself.... Jeep has been pooping in the house. DISGUSTING! He will be kenneled today. And then, Molly looks at me and pukes all over the floor. DOGS...

The break is over...

Spring Break is over... back to reality. I'm back to my routine (that had wavered before the break) up at 6 to have peaceful time by myself and then the morning chaos of getting kiddos ready for school and then I head out to school. Mondays are always crazy... I always go to work early, I always feel as though I don't have enough time, and I always feel as though it gets me right into my routine.

I was looking over my teaching calendar last night and I was sad. Only 7 more weeks with my sweet little guys before I hand them over for the summer and they enter Kindergarten. Whew... time flies.

Tante is finally home, if only for a few days, she is home. We were all excited to see her, but none showed it more than Em. She had to show her her room (nothing had changed... still clothes on the floor) and do puzzles, and sing to her, etc. Very sweet.

Spring Break Fun!

It has been hoppin' around here this week. LOTS of play dates, sleepovers, sewing and cleaning/organizing.

Monday... played with friends at there house after lounging in our jammies for the morning and baseball practice.

Tuesday... Eye appointments, library, a few groceries, house cleaning and dinner with an old friend, Gary, who has moved to China. We hadn't seen him since our wedding day, almost 11 years ago. So much fun to catch up with him and see pictures of his beautiful family.

Wednesday... Organizing and playing... decent weather... switched kids for a sleepover. I had the boys, she had the girls. We took Jeep for a walk on the "back-side" of the campus. It is a big field with a path that goes into the woods to a creek for great rock throwing. The kids rented a movie, goosebumps which is NOT scary enough for three boys. I sewed new napkins while the boys tried to go to sleep. The good news is that I made 8 new napkins.

Thursday... kids played - gorgeous day. Off to Burgerville for lunch and to switch back kids. As we are ready to load up... Stefan comes out with his front tooth in his hand. They boys were having a pillow fight and "sleepover friends" knee ended up in Stefan's mouth. No big deal... the tooth was already loose.

Left Joe power washing the back patio.

I began cleaning the garage, uh. Mandy dropped by with Calvin and Ammon and they kids played for a few hours. I then went back to cleaning the garage. (I didn't take a picture.) Joe showered and I found him like this...
it's his vacation look! So funny... We had managed to get a last minute babysitter for an adult dinner with our friend Gary. Gary had been on the river all day fishing and was exhausted (as were we) so we all decided it was best to cancel. I let the babysitter go, Joe fished around in the freezer and came up with a delicious dinner, but before we could get it on the table... it was getting late, 7:30, we found this...

Two late nights in a row... little Em was exhausted. (That reminds me, we also moved the Futon couch out of the boys room this morning and put it in the family room. It really frees up some space for the boys to play.)

Whew, what a week so far... it's Friday morning... I wonder what the weekend will hold!

I went shopping...

by MYSELF! Kohl's is a great store. I should do an advertisement for them. I was successful after trying on MANY pairs of pants I finally figured out my size, style, etc. I persevered... without tears!
