Joey's Grown!

You know your child has grown when you look at him and think... you are huge!

He has added height. He doesn't have to half jump on the counter to get a 'grown-up' bowl or a coffee mug for his milk. He just simply opens the cupboard door and gets what he needs.

Thankfully, we have incredible friends that pass clothes around... he needed all new jeans and I had just bought new jeans for him after Christmas... that's only three months ago.

His feet have grown...

His hands look bigger...

He gets my jokes...

He reads over my shoulder while I'm on the computer...

He is my oldest... I've always thought of him as my oldest, but he's not suppose to be so big! My baby, not my baby... but certainly my boy!

Oma's Famous Dinner Rolls

Everyone who knows her knows Oma is a great cook. She is especially fond of baking with yeast. This winter my friend, Gail asked Oma to show her how to bake "Oma's Famous Dinner Rolls". It was a typical winter day, gray and cold. Gail was here bright and early (she's a bright and early kind of gal) and those two got started in the kitchen. It was a joy to watch. Here are some pictures.

Pictures from the beach...

Tante's First Post

Here I am blogging... It's out of my comfort zone for sure but I'm feeling ready.
Except for getting tired of winter, Oma and I are doing fine. We've been working on a few projects around the house. The wall paper in the main bath upstairs has been taken down and replaced with a nice coat of paint that compliments the tile. We also have a new toilet in there--17" seat height to save our knees, water efficient and works great. Love it! Here's a picture:

It's a beauty.

We've made some improvments in the kitchen too. I'll have some pictures in my next post.
More news soon,
Love, Tante

A Weekend Get-Away

We are in Newport at the beach. Joe was working here most of the week, so we decided to join him. It just happened that there are not any basketball games this weekend, so we are clear and free.

Thursday -- Boys have early release from school, but I have to work. We left at 4:39 (not bad... I wanted to leave by 4:30). Jeep is with us and Molly is at the Freedom Farm.

Friday -- Gorgeous, sunny morning. We decided to head to the beach. Joey spotted a nice spot on our way back from breakfast, so we packed up and headed over to it. Nice soft sand to lay in and 'dunes'. The kids ran and ran up and down the dunes... with Jeep in tow. They played Star Wars on the dunes... I was the droid to avoid i.e. Mom with camera. They found a fort that someone had built and they added to it.

Then, it was time to swim. We headed to the hotel pool and they played and hot-tubbed. Emmi is becoming a good swimmer. Stefan and Joey made up games about falling into the pool... silly boys.

Next, quiet time... my favorite! After showers, we lounged around for an hour and watched tv, played on the internet, etc. Stefan fell asleep (so did Joe and I).

Then, it was time to rally the troops to head to a customer's (friend) house for dinner. Jeep came along and played with their dog, Bradshaw (as in Terri Bradshaw... how funny). There were three families for a total of 7 kids. They ran and played and had a blast. We had a great dinner (grilled steak and chicken, company potatoes and salad) and a yummy dessert.

Today, we will head to Newport Aquarium. It is a yucky day outside, so it's the perfect day to be at the aquarium. We haven't been there is years, so we are all looking forward to it.

I'll post pictures when we get home.

New Hair -- for the boys!

Stefan loves his hair short, short, short. He knew exactly what he wanted... he also made sure he had his shoulder massage at the end of the cut.

Joey, on the other hand, really didn't want to have his hair cut. He likes his long hair, which is fine with me. The problem came when he put on a baseball hat last week and it didn't fit. Yes, it fit on his head, but his hair was so long that it looked ridiculous. He looks very dapper. He was very sad after the cut, so I bought him a soda (soda cures all) and texture cream (really sticky stuff for hair to make it stand up in front). Now, he's happier as he likes to "do" his hair each morning. He's getting so big!
