Beautiful Morning

After 3 days of hot heat (which you know I don't enjoy HOT HEAT), I got up early to take Jeep for a walk to the campus. It was gorgeous! Blue skies, crisp air, bunnies hopping... just beautiful. Jeep was exhausted by the time we got home. I'm so glad I went. It would have been very easy to roll back over and go back to bed. But, when the sun is shining and there is a cool breeze, you just have to get moving!

Amazing Parents!

Have you ever heard of Oprah's Big Give? Well, our wonderful preschool parents gave the preschool and staff a Big Give. We were presented last night (during the VBS BBQ) with all kinds of amazing gifts... I'm sure I won't get them all, but here is a list:
  • New Vacuum
  • New Stove
  • New Microwave
  • New sinks for the boys bathroom
  • New Faucets for the boys and girls bathrooms
  • New trikes/bikes
  • Hoola Hoops
  • School Supplies
  • $25 Office Depot Gift Card
  • $500 Learning Palace Gift Card
  • I know there's more... I just can't think
All of the teacher, aides and our director were speechless. I think it left a few church members speechless as well. We are so blessed to have such amazing parents at our school. Oh, the kicker for me was that this was orchestrated by a mom with one child on her way to kindergarten and one child entering preschool, another mom whose child will not be able to attend next year and yet another mom whose child will be attending for the first time in the fall, not to mention all of the wonderful current families!

I think I need to contact Oprah and share the story!

Another Birthday

I had a great birthday. Thanks for the calls and cards. My favorite part was seeing Tim McGraw in concert! Soooooo, much fun. Plenty of people to gawk at! I didn't take my camera along, but Joe had his phone. When he emails me the pictures, I'll post them! You can see great pictures here!

  • fun with Jeep's kennel
You'll have to wait for the pictures!

A summer evening...

After a great dinner of scallops and shrimp, we headed outside. The kids rode bikes in the cul-de-sac with the neighbor girl, the dogs made their way out and we chatted in the middle of the rode with other adults. We ended in the driveway with an impromptu game of basketball (I drained all of my shots!) There was a breeze, the sun was out, the kids were happy and the dogs were accounted for... a beautiful summer evening.

Piano Recital

The boys had their piano recital together... Joey is in a different class, but we were out of town for his recital. He asked if he could play during Stefan's recital. Being that they have the same teacher, he was fine with it.

Stefan played four songs. He did well. It was his fist recital. After, in the car he announced that he was really sweating.

Joey played three songs. He announced in the car that his fingers wouldn't stop shaking. Both boys had a lesson in nerves!

They did well. Learned about nerves and how important it is to practice so that when the nerves kick in you can still play well. We were very proud. At one point, Emmi yawned really loud... I think it was while Joey was playing. Of course it sounded like a truck had rolled through his performance because it was so quiet in the room. It took everything Joe and I had not to laugh out loud.

New Hat

I bought myself a new hat at the Dime Store in Sisters. It was $4.95... Carmen and I both splurged on them and we love them. It's not a perfect hat, it sloshes a bit on my head, but I love my hat. I'm now fully protected from the sun!

Camp Sherman

A beautiful weekend at Camp Sherman at the head of the Metolius River! Campfires, meeting new friends, shopping in Sisters, Golfing at Black Butte, hikes, water gun fights, ice cream from the "little" store, grilling, poker and FUN! It was a great weekend!

Lesley Graduates from High School

From left: Mandy, Lesley, Me (Mom's face is peeking out behind my head), Deena, and Allison is in front.

Well, it's finally happened... all of us (5 sisters) have graduated from high school. Lesley was 2 years old the year that I graduated... that is 15 years ago, yikes! She is very excited to be finished and scared and nervous to begin collage, but that is normal. I'm excited for her the life that lays ahead. I'm very excited for her to go to collage, but more than that to graduate from collage. I will attend that event as well!

Emmi's Pretend Graduation

Most of Emmi's preschool class graduated last week. They are headed off to Kindergarten. As everyone is well aware, Emmi has a late birthday so she "gets" to stay at the preschool for another year and attend the PreK program (which I teach). So, she wore the gown, but she will return.

Here she is with Daddy.

And with Papa. The end of year program celebrates Father's and Grandpa's.

In her gown.
Singing in the program... she really did sing, although this picture doesn't really show it.

All done

Today was my last day of teaching for the year. Time for summer break. It's always sad to say goodbye to a class; especially one heading off to Kindergarten where they are dispersed to many different schools. I am sad to see them go, but very excited for them... they are ready.

Now I begin my summer break. Which for me, the first task is tackling all of "those" projects that I have been putting off. First up, (besides a deep cleaning) a household notebook. One spot for all of that STUFF... schedules, library books, grocery lists, menu planning (see honey, I think about menu planning :) ), etc.

I'll take pictures of my progress and let you know what my subsequent projects will be.

Happy Summer...

This and That

Since Joe was returning from a trip Friday night, the kids and I spent the evening at MAC. I dropped Joey off at swim practice, Emmi and Stefan at daycare (success) and I got in a quick workout. I headed back to swim practice for the mock-meet and Joey informed me that he was not swimming; although he wouldn't give me a reason why. Finally, his swim coach came over to explain that he had a lot of ear pain while swimming and was only able to swim 2 laps... most likely swimmers ear. Poor baby.

We decided that he would get warmed up and watch the meet. He sat with his buddies that were swimming. He had a great time and it really helped him to watch a meet as opposed to swim in it the first time. He saw his friends having fun no matter if they came in first or last place. He left with a smile and I think he'll be ready for the next one. Now, to get his ear cleared up!

It was also the last Family Fun night, so we headed to the gym to play on the inflatables. The kids loved it and then got hungry. So we headed to the Family Fun buffet to eat where the kids spotted the rock climbing wall... "I want to do that!" was heard by Stefan and Joey. So, off we went to rock climb. The boys got harnessed in and waited their turn. They each made it to the very top at least once and climbed 3 times each. I now have rock climbers... my goodness! Needless to say, they slept well :)

Baseball Saturday morning... they are improving and having fun.

Then, we headed to Newberg to watch Nicolette pitch in a softball tournament. They played a team of 14 year old girls (they are 12) and beat them! It was very fun to watch Nic... I was so proud of her. She is a great pitcher!
