Well, as you know, Harry Potter has been all the rage for years now. My son, jumped on the band wagon and decided to read the book. First he checked out the 3 book in the series. He started it, made a valiant effort and returned it. A couple of weeks later he decided to check out the 1st book. Which I thought was an excellent choice... you know, to begin at the beginning of the series. After 2+ weeks, he has finished all 309 pages in 17 chapters. He is very proud of himself. He had the added benefit of taking an AR test (Accelerated Reader) at school. The book was worth 12 points (that's huge in the world of a 2nd grader) and he got 9.6 points after completing the test. Wow! I'm proud of him. He chose a big project AND stuck with it!
