Busy Week Ahead

It's Monday morning... all is quiet and I'm looking at our schedule for the week? Whew... another good one. It will all work...

I finally was able to put a scarf on my knitting needles... it's been at least 3 months...

Whew... what a week.

I have many pictures to post, so this may take a couple of entries. The kids had a knitting lesson from Tante. They all did well and Joey is completely knitting on his own!

to Rita for taking the time to sit and teach me how to knit dish rags. I am so excited that I know how to do it. I'm no expert, but I am so excited. I'm going to continue to work on them tonight. Now what do I do in my spare time... read or knit. If I have lots of spare time I like to scrap or sew, but when I have a little time I read or now, knit!

Brrr...

It is cold here... 27 degrees. Okay, I know that isn't cold compared to where some of you live, but for here, it is cold!

So, my knitting saga. Rita helped me get up and going before she left. What do I do? Flub it up and have to rip it out... 4 times! So frustrated (I know where Joey gets it... don't tell anyone though). I finally get online and search out a tutorial... there are TONS of them. So with tons of patience, I'm knitting again. I cast on, I got the first row done (that's a bugger) and I learned how to drop a stitch. I was always having trouble with the first stitch of each row... it was so loose that it was coming undone. Now, it seems to be fine. We'll see what happens. I also watched a tutorial on the purl stitch... not quite ready for that!

Getting the Hang of it!

I spent some time today practicing my knitting. I think that I am getting the hang of it (ha, there is so much to learn, but I can keep my wool on my needle :) I even came across a big problem... my wool broke in half. I thought... there must be a way to fix this... so I double the wool and kept knitting (incorporating the broken strand with the fresh strand.) I can't wait for Rita to see it... she will have lots of suggestions for the next time it happens.

The kids started swim lessons again today at the MAC. They did great. Joey, always the competitor, swam well to stay ahead of the others in class. Stefan went into class determined to pass level 3.... guess what, he did! He will begin level 4 next Saturday. And Miss Em... loves to put her face in the water now and be silly. The only reason I can handle the silliness is that it is just her personality. She does listen and she does try her best. After everyone was dressed we headed up to the gym. The boys shot baskets, Em tried and I tried to knit.

All in all, a good Saturday. Now Stefan is complaining of an oncoming cold. We'll see what happens :)

Knitting is relaxing...

I've decided that I want to learn to knit. Okay... off to the library to find a book. There are many to choose from, so I choose two.... one written for kids, the other written for teenagers. I smile and think, yeah, that's about my level for this craft. I browse through them once home and decide to call Rita and ask her to just teach me. I'm such a wimp!

Rita was so patient. Here she is, lying in a hospital bed, nervous for her surgery and I pull out the wool and knitting needles. My hands were a mess... I felt like a complete spaz, yet at the same time it was very humbling. So with my tongue sticking out of my mouth I keep repeating in my head.... Patience, go slowly... (BTW, Rita's "port" surgery went very well. She is off to cross off the next items on her list.) Oma's quote had to be the best... It's like having two broom sticks in your hand. I couldn't have said it any better myself. I will conquer knitting. And, I will be relaxed :)
